The student should then apply for a preliminary assessment to the visa processing office.
The letter to this office should include the following:
The proposed entry level of the student
The name of the course applied for
The CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students) course and provider codes
The proposed start and end dates of the course
The full tuition fees for the course

Once this information is received by the visa processing office, the preliminary assessment will be conducted. If the assessment is favourable, then the visa office will instruct the university to send the student an electronic confirmation of enrolment (eCoE) certificate.
The student may then be asked to pay the OSHC premium and undergo medical tests.
Apart from these documents, you must be able to show that:
You can cover the costs for air fares, course fees and living costs for the duration of the stay in Australia
Your English language proficiency (IELTS score)
Your personal and/or financial commitments in India or the country you belong to
Your academic record and history in relation to the planned study course
Your immigration history, if any
That the course you have chosen is what you would have chosen in your circumstances, and
That this course is consistent with and appropriate to your current education level.
Once these requirements are met, and the visa processing office is satisfied with the results, the student visa may be granted to the student.

study in Australia- univ based on rankings

If you wish to study in Australia here's a complete lowdown on all the Univs in Australia based on the rankings:

University Of Tasmania
Holmesglen Institute of TAFE
Edith Cowan University chemical oceanographers, who investigate the chemical properties of sea water, the chemistry of living systems, behaviour of pollutants and the age of the sea water; marine biologists who study marine animals and plants; geological oceanographers who examine the rocks, minerals and processes that are at the bottom of the sea; and computer modellers who use the data collected by their colleagues to produce graphical simulations of the way the oceans flow and change around the world.

One needs a good background in geology, physics, chemistry, or biology or engineering(min. graduation degree). Proficiency in mathematics is needed definitely.
Most jobs in oceanography require trips on research vessels, so any shipboard experience is also welcome. Mechanical ability (the ability to fix equipment while on board a vessel without having to return to port) is a boon. Oher attributes that come handy are: proficiency in one or more foreign languages; certification as a scuba diver; physical stamina and tolerance to sea sickness.

POST GRADUATE COURSES IN OCEANOGRAPHY, MARINE SCIENCE & GEOLOGY
EASTERN REGION :
- Berhampur University Bhanja Bihar, Berhampur, Distt. For starters , biotechnology is a interdisciplinary science including not only biology, but also subjects like mathematics, physics, chemistry and engineering. It is a blend of various technologies applied together to living cells for production of a particular product or for improving upon it. It is also concerned with many other subjects like Health and Medicine, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Cropping system and Crop Management, Ecology, Cell Biology, Soil science and Soil Conservation, Bio-statistics, Plant Physiology, Seed Technology etc.

There are sub-fields in biotechnology.Red Biotechnology which can be practical to medical processes. Say making organisms suitable to manufacture antibiotics, and the engineering of genetic cures to heal diseases using ‘genomic manipulation’. White Biotechnology , (also grey biotechnology), is biotechnology applied to industrial processes. Say using an organism to produce a useful chemical. The next in this group is Green Biotechnology which is generally useful to agricultural processes. Bioinformatics is another field allied to Biotechnology which generally addresses biological problems deploying computational techniques (also called computational biology). Another is blue biotechnology, which is application of Biotechnology in the marine and aquatic division.

Students with solid background in science at the intermediate level can take up:
B.Tech in Biotechnology

(In India, some universities offer the B.Sc biotechnology which one can join after class 12 or equivalent examination, with physics, chemistry and mathematics.)

M.Sc. Biotechnology

Graduates in all sciences/engineering technology/medicine are eligible for the postgraduate course
M.Sc. (Agriculture) Biotechnology
M.V.Sc. (Animal) Biotechnology
M.Tech. Biotechnology, M.Sc./M.V.Sc. Veterinary Biotechnology
M.Sc. (Marine) Biotechnology
Medical Biotechnology
M.Tech. in Biomedical Engineering/Biotechnology and

(Integrated M.Tech. programme if offered at IIT Delhi and Kharagpur through a Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), for those who have successfully completed the 10+2 with physics, chemistry and mathematics. For admission to IIT, a pass in the IIT-JEE is required.

The Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, AIIMS, Jadavpur University, Kolkata and Anna University also offers integrated M.Tech course.)

To get information about JNU entrance examinations contact:
Dr. S. One needs Two years to complete the M.Sc. course. B.Tech. course is of four years duration and five year for integrated M.Tech. programme offered at IIT Delhi and Kharagpur.
As said the field does not bring good money at the start.In the corporate sector, fresh IIT pass outs may get anything from Rs. 70,000 p.a. to Rs. 85,000 p.a. and fresh B.Sc./B. Tech. graduates from other universities may get anything in the range of Rs. 50,000 p.a. to Rs. 70,000 p.a. Those workimg in the research institutes can expect something around Rs. 60,000 p.a. But as you grow in experience your paycheque gets bigger.

Colleges offering BSc in biotechnology:

Lovely Professional University, Punjab, (Punjab)
Jalandhar-Ludhiana G.T road, Near chaheru Railway Bridge, Phagwara, Punjab
Microtek College of Paramedical Science, Varanasi, (Uttar Pradesh)
Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, (Andhra Pradesh)
Visakhapatnam
Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, (Punjab)
Patna University, Patna, (Bihar), Patna
Sai College Of Medical Science & Technology, (Uttar Pradesh)
Opp Chaubepur Police Station, Chaubepur,Kanpur-209203
Sindhu Mahvidyalaya, (Maharashtra)Nagpur, Maharashtra
University of Madras, Chennai, (Tamil Nadu),
Centenary Building, Chepauk, Triplicane P O, Chennai

Colleges offering MSc courses:
ICAR, New Delhi
M. This is a subject that includes the biological study of life, habits and breeding of various species of fish and involves farming and husbandry of important fishes and aquatic organisms in fresh water and any marine environment. The rapidly developing fishery industry, provides new opportunities for highly skilled people engaged in the scientific breeding and management of fisheries.

Activities in Fisheries and Aquaculture:
Disease Management of Aquatic Animals
Health Management of Aquatic Animals
Pro-biotics
Bio-remediation
Bio-processing
Improved Feed Formulation
Aquatic Environmental Quality Management
Shellfish Technology
Germplasm Conservation

You can also make a career in fisheries science as an aqua culturist, farm managers, exporters, traders, breeders etc.

If you are really interested in marine life and have no problem of sea sickness then you can opt for a graduation course- a 4 year degree course i.e B.F.Sc (Bachelor of Fisheries Science) from fisheries colleges of state agriculture universities. you have to be 10+2 pass with biological science as one of the subjects. The B.F.Sc course provides basic knowledge in all the three categories of fisheries science i.e. capture, culture and post harvest technology.
The course also contains practical experience like on sea cruise on fishing vessels for data collection & fishing, in processing plants and on aqua farms.
To apply for various Central Institute of Fisheries Education in the country, one has to appear for an all India level common entrance test conducted by ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research), New Delhi.
After completing B.F. Sc., one can take M.F.Sc. which is of 2 year duration. (Masters of Fisheries Science).

A career in Fisheries and Aquaculture requires a lot of hard work. One should be hard working in order to excel in this field. It also requires a lot of research work . Hence, one should have a research-oriented mentality in order to pursue a course in Fisheries and Aquaculture. It is a mandatory exam for people who apply to study or work in the countries where English is the primary language. The test is jointly managed by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, British Council and IDP: IELTS Australia.

IELTS assesses ones complete range of English language skills and nearly all institutes in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and canada seek IELTS scores from each applicant. The IELTS test is held upto 4 times a month.

The test comprises of four band modules namely Listening, Reading, writing and Speaking. All candidates are supposed to take the Listening and Speaking modules. There is a choice for Reading and Writing modules, where a candidate can either opt for Academic or General training module, determined by the purpose of taking IELTS.

Test duration of IELTS is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

ACADEMIC TRAINING:

* Listening(40 questions)-30 minutes.

* Reading(40 questions)-60 minutes.

* Writing(2 essays)-60 minutes.

* Speaking-10 to 15 minutes.
GENERAL TRAINING:

* Listening(40 questions)-30 minutes.

* Reading(40 questions)-60 minutes.

* Writing(2 essays)-60 minutes.

* Speaking-10 to 15 minutes

There are four sections in the Listening test in order of increasing difficulty. The first two sections are on topics of general interest. Section one will be in the form of a dialogue and section two will be a monologue. Sections three and four will have an education or training focus. There will be a lecture and a discussion between two and four people.
In the listening section, the listening material which is recorded on a cassette tape will be played, only once. As the candidates listen to this, they should write the answers on the question booklet. At the end of the recorded material, the candidates are given 10 minutes to copy their answers onto the answer sheet.

In the reading test, the candidates are required to read three texts of between 500 and 900 words each. There will be around 40 questions to answer and record on the answer sheet within the 60 minutes. The texts and questions increase in difficulty.
There are two tasks in the Writing test. Task one which should be completed in 20 minutes, is a report based on some graphic information and the candidates are required to describe it in a minimum of 150 words. Task two, that carries more weight in the final band score, is an essay based topic which should be written in at least 250 words in 40 minutes.
The Speaking test is in the form of an oral interview between the candidate and an examiner. During the interview you will need to answer questions asked by the interviewer, speak at length on a topic selected by the interviewer and give and justify your opinions on a range of issues related to that topic.

The first three Modules- Listening, Reading and Writing- must be completed in one day. The Speaking Module may be taken, either 7 days before or after the other three modules.

IELTS scores are usually indicated by the band scale. The assessment of the candidates will be reported according to a scale from bands one to nine.The most common requirement is a band score of between 6 and 7. A good IELTS score (band score of 6.0 and more) along with a good GPA (Grade Point Average) is usually required for many colleges.
FEES : Rs 6825/-

ADDRESS : British Council (Mumbai):
The British Deputy High Commission,
British Council Division, Mittal Tower 'C' Wing, 2nd Floor,
Nariman Point, Mumbai 400021. International students are charged up-front tuition fees.
Examples of fee structure are:
Primary/Secondary School -A$ 5,000 – 13,000 a year
Foundation Studies-A$ 9,000 – 14,000 a year
Certificate I – IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma-A$ 5,500 – 18,000 a year
Bachelors Degree (Arts/Business/Law) -A$ 10,000 – 13,500 a year
Bachelors Degree (Science & Engineering) -A$ 11,000 – 16,500 a year
Masters/Doctoral Degree-A$ 11,000 – 18,500 a year
English Language Training-A$ 3,500 – 16,000 a year
In addition to fees All international students need to have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their study in Australia. This is paid at least 1 year in advance and then renewed annually. The current rate for OSHC is approximately A$ 350 a year.

English language skills are a requirement for receiving an Australian student visa. IELTS is the only test accepted by the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) for visa purposes.

Visa Regulations:
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship of Australia has introduced new changes to support and service Indian students.
The most highlighted point is the inclusion of work rights on all initial student visa grants. This would be beneficial in terms of time and cost, as it removes the need for student visa holders to make a separate application for permission to work.
From April 26, 2008, onwards, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship has increased the Student Visa Application Charge to AUD 450 as this fee includes the fee for applying for a work permit. Prior to April 26, 2008, students had to pay AUD 430 as student visa application and on course commencement, apply for work rights by paying a charge of AUD 60.
Students are allowed to work 20 hours a week while the course is in session and full-time during scheduled course breaks.

Neither the student nor the family members are allowed to work before the commencement of course of the primary applicant. Family members (except those of research students) are only able to work 20 hours per week.

Moreover, all students who have received visa approvals through e-Visa will no more require visa evidencing / visa stamping on their passport. This means another saving of Rs 281 per passport for each individual case.
